About Lonavala Hill Station
Duke's Nose
The name Duke's Nose was derived from the Duke of Wellington, whose nose resembled the shape of the cliff. Locals call it Naagphani or the Cobra's Hood going by the shape of the cliff. A panoramic view of Duke's Nose is visible from the Sunset Point in Lonavala.
Bhajs Caves
Bhaja Caves is a small cluster of Buddhist Caves built by the Hinayana sect of Buddhism near Lonavala in Maharashtra. The work on these Caves started in 2nd century BC and finished in 2nd century AD.
Tigers Point
The point derives its name from its resemblance to the shape of a leaping tiger. It offers spectacular views of forests, lush greenery, waterfalls and lakes around. The sunrise and sunset views from here are mesmerizing. There is a small waterfall near to this viewpoint, which flows during the monsoon months only.
Bushi Dam
The Bhushi Dam is one of Lonavala’s major attractions. The dam was designed at the end of the 1860s as a supply for their steam engines for the Great Indian Peninsular Railway. Although it is a popular picnic site, swimming is forbidden because of the erratic flow of water in this dam, which makes this area a refuge for accidents.
